October Clinical Club: Secrets of skin care and wound bed preparation 15th October 2025 - 12:30 GMT.

Our next clinical club focuses on the value of skin care and wound lavage as part of the wound management process. (15th October 2025) 
It's not always considered that surrounding skin can contribute to healing delay and with some wounds crusting, accumulation of exudate and debris can contribute to continued inflammation and discomfort that inhibits healing and invites patient interference. 
In this session we'll explore a range of cases where care of the surrounding skin with simple measures makes a considerable impact on the welfare of the patient and the positive progression of wound healing. 
We will cover: 

• Use of shampoo and skin cleansers as a method to reduce bioburden surrounding wounds to reduce associated inflammation and optimise skin health. 
• Wound lavage and autolytic debridement to reduce bioburden
• Simple methods that can help on a budget and the introduction of novel techniques to assist in rapid debridement of large areas of superficial, devitalised tissue.
