For the last ten years Katie has been Head Nurse based at an independent mixed practice in rural Northumberland, where she also lives and raises her family on a small holding. She really enjoys her role and the ability to encourage and develop both SVNs and RVNs, helping them to find their nursing niches. She has really enjoyed building and researching second intention healing within the practice and has concentrated on developing wound care and techniques within practice where surgical expertise may not be a viable option for patients or clients.

​Over the last few years she has written articles for the veterinary nursing times on wound care and submitted cases to research projects in the states. She really just loves wounds and the overwhelming difference an RVN can make.
