Watch the recording below and don't forget to zap the QR code on the right to download your CPD certificate.&nbsp;<br><br>This session covers care of surrounding skin, lavage and cleansing as part of the wound management process. Crusting of exudate, accumulation of debris and dead tissue not only contributes to continued inflammation but can also be uncomfortable inviting patient interference and difficulty in removal in the conscious patient.&nbsp;<br>In this session we'll also cover a novel technique using 'bubble-wrap' as a way to rapidly remove devitalised tissue in the compromised patient. This session explains the principles of a standard bandage, the layers involved. Robert Jones and the modified Robert Jones are discussed and compared to casting and splinting as our preferred method for immobilisation.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>A section covering Q&amp;A is included where questions raised during the live session are answered.&nbsp;<br>These include:&nbsp;</strong><ul><li>Should you use cotton wool or orthopaedic under padding between toes?</li><li>Is an open toe bandage better than a closed toe and when would you use each?</li><li>Should orthopaedic under padding be rolled up and down the limb, or cut at the top and started at the foot for each layer?&nbsp;</li></ul><strong>NB: Current UK OSCE standards are to bandage up the limb with orthopaedic underpadding, cut at the top and start again at the foot for another layer. &nbsp;Our view on this is explained during the session.
